The Heating or Eating Quandary

Winter 2015/16

A snapshop of the experiences of the clients of North Liverpool Citizens Advice, how they manage and the heating or eating decisions they take.

The primary purpose of the report is to help us, as an advice provider, understand how we can better identify and respond to the need for advice on these topics.

The report also helps raise awareness of the experiences of our clients and the problems they face.

GETTING BY? A year in the life of 30 working families in Liverpool

Getting By? is an independent project set up by a partnership of volunteers: Siw Jones, from North Liverpool CAB; Paul Kyprianou from community research company Praxis and Jon Flinn from DHA Communications.  It is supported by Liverpool’s Mayoral Action Group on Fairness and Tackling Poverty to provide a voice to working families in Liverpool.  The report sets out how working people earning below the Living Wage have been driven into inescapable debt, forced to use food banks to feed their families and are suffering anxiety, and sometimes depression, as a direct result of their financial stresses.
